Searching For Ajman Real Estate Agents | Sr22 Insurance Online ...

An Ajman real estate agent is not different from others in the same field of work in other places. The work they do is similar. The only difference may be the environment in which they work and perhaps the financial returns from their work. The search for a realtor can be very frustrating.

There are dubious business people who are out to make quick cash from unsuspecting home buyers. It is very easy to get land into the wrong hands when looking to make property investments. There are several factors that need to be considered before making the all-important purchase.

It is important to consider the reputability of the landed property dealer. A reputable dealer is bound to give value for money and is less likely to take one for a ride. Doing a background check on the Realtor before choosing to make an investment with them. This activity may be instrumental in ensuring that one does not get into business with a conman. One can ask friends or relatives who have had an experience with the Realtor in question for their opinion on his or her services. Such friends and relatives may also be in a position to recommend other reputable realty agents.

Another alternative would be to hire the services of a property development company. There are both advantages and disadvantages of doing this. Some of the advantages are the fact that these firms are more reliable than dealers who work on their own. One can rest safe in the knowledge that he or she is dealing with trustworthy people. The likelihood of being conned is reduced when dealing with a firm. The down side of transacting business through h a firm is that it is more costly than dealing with individual property dealers. The advantages that come with firms are accompanied by the disadvantage of having to dig deeper into the pockets.

However, it is of vital importance to be sure that the firm in question is legitimate. Legitimate in this case means that it is registered with the relevant authorities and it is licensed to deal in real estate. Non-registered firms are not authorized to transact any business that is related to the property market. Dealing with such a firm is not acceptable even according to the law.

A common tactic that con-men use is selling property that does not exist in reality. A prospective property owner needs to confirm that the property being sold to him or her does exist in reality. This may involve seeking answers from the relevant authorities. In addition to this, one must also confirm that the property is up for sale. The property might be existent yes, but the owner does not intend to sell it.

Of course, it is also important to consider the cost of services offered by the agents. The English saying that advises one to cut their coat according to their cloth very much applies here. It does not make sense for a low-income earner to hire the services of a high-end Realtor. One needs to go for a Realtor that he or she can comfortably afford without much strain. These are just few of the factors to consider when looking for a property dealer.

At one point in life, there will be a need for one to buy property. Looking for Ajman real estate agents can be very stressful. With the right knowledge on hoe to go about it however, it should not be very difficult. One only needs to know what he wants in a Realtor and choose to settle for anything less.

Modric thanks Spurs for Real Madrid chance

Madrid, Aug 30

Croatian footballer Luka Modric has thanked the fans and his former club Tottenham Hotspurs after he joined Spanish giants Real Madrid in a deal worth around 35 million euros.

Modric also looked back over his time in London with Tottenham, who he helped guide to a fourth place finish last season. He said Wednesday that his move to Madrid was partly thanks to the English side, reports Xinhua.

"I spent four incredible years there. I would like to thank everyone in the club, the people who helped me in London. I want to thank the fans, because they treated me very well, they gave me a lot of affection and respect... it was a mutual feeling.

I want to thank my teammates too. Thanks to them I'm here now, and thanks to Tottenham as a club as well. I only have good memories from over there," commented Modric.

The Croatian midfielder, who will be 28 at the start of next month, spoke to Real Madrid TV about his hopes for his career in Spain, while also reflecting on his four years with Spurs and also his roots at Dynamo Zagreb.

"It means a great deal to me to join Real Madrid, because it's a great club. This is a club that always fights for all possible titles. It makes me proud and it is an honour to be a part of this club. I hope to be able to help the team to win the maximum number of trophies," said Modric, who was delighted to be able to work with Madrid coach, Jose Mourinho.

"It's incredible for such a good coach to want me. What's more, I was willing to wait until the last day in order to be here. I owe him everything and I really want to play for him and for the team," insisted the midfielder.

AirPlay Direct Could Be The Best Business And Classroom ...

AirPlay Direct would easily win fans in business, education, and even IT.

One of the first thoughts I had when Apple announced AirPlay Mirroring as a feature in Mountain Lion was that it would make an excellent mobile presentation tool and one that would be far easier to bring to business meetings, trade shows, or client-site training events than hauling a projector. With just a MacBook Air and Apple TV, you can plug into any HDTV, display, or projector that supports HDMI and be ready to go. That?s a great combination for any business traveler.

If Apple does announce AirPlay Direct, a new version of AirPlay that doesn?t require a Wi-Fi network, the company will have made the lives of business travelers, trainers, and educators even easier. It will probably also make network administrators in both business and education a bit happier as well.

For business presentations, trainings, and even classroom use (K-12 or high education), the Apple TV is a great solution. It can be installed with HDTV sets in a conference room or classroom permanently or temporarily. The Apple TV?s minimal size and cabling needs mean that?s an ultra-portable device for connecting to HDMI-enabled TVs, displays, or projectors in any office or education setting you might find yourself in ? this inexpensive gadget even delivers access to legacy presentation systems that can?t handle HDMI.

Mountain Lion on a MacBook Air or MacBook Pro and an Apple TV are a great solution because the MacBook can create its own Wi-Fi network if needed ? one which the Apple TV can join. AirPlay Direct would simplify that setup process even further if it supports Apple?s portable and desktop Mac models, which seems like a pretty reasonable assumption. Just power the devices on one the Apple TV is attached to whatever display system you?ll be using.

AirPlay Direct can even minimize the hardware and setup needs further. Load a presentation onto your iPhone (or your iPad). Plug in and power on the Apple TV, launch the iOS version of Apple?s Keynote or an alternative mobile Office-type suite like Office2 or QuickOffice, and you?re ready to go. Sync some videos to your iPhone or look them up on the fly using YouTube and you can go even further than doing a static presentation. That?s only the beginning depending ? iOS apps can deliver even more value for specific presentation or instructional needs.

AirPlay Direct could even make offices or schools that already have dedicated Apple TV installations more user and IT-friendly. With a direct connection, neither device relies on a Wi-Fi network. That means Apple TVs don?t even have to be on the network at all to be valuable tools. Apple TV setup and administration is simplified to almost nothing ? just name the device, set a password to limit use to authorized staff, and IT?s work is done.

AirPlay Direct might even resolve some of the problems that Apple devices are causing on college campuses. As we reported earlier this summer, a group of higher education IT professionals has petitioned Apple to modify AirPlay (as well as AirPrint and Bonjour) so that Apple TVs ? or other AirPlay devices ? and the iOS devices or Macs connecting to them don?t overload Wi-Fi networks. AirPlay Direct could certainly improve those situations as well as the related concern that users could start accessing the wrong devices because they?re all connected to a single network. AirPlay devices could be allowed in dorm rooms, and be used, but be barred from connecting to a college Wi-Fi network.

Call of Duty: Black Ops II limited editions unveiled, $180 'Care Package' includes aerial drone

Activision never disappoints when it comes to limited edition Call of Duty release bundles, and for the upcoming Black Ops II, it actually may have outdone itself. Besting the RC-XD from its predecessor, $180 will let you snag the Care Package edition for Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3. This massive bundle is actually boxed as an in-gamed care package (aerial drop-off not included) that's loaded with a remote controlled MQ-27 Dragonfire quadrocopter drone (!) -- we really wish we'd picked up those Modern Warfare 2 night vision goggles now (not at all for full-fledged, after hours recon of our Aol office-mates...). Naturally, it also comes loaded with the requisite DLC goodies; namely, two extra maps (Nuketown Zombies and Nuketown 2025), exclusive weapon camo, a pair of Player Card backgrounds and copy of the soundtrack. Furthermore, PS3 owners will get a pair of dynamic themes, while those with 360s will receive an XBL Zombie avatar and Claw prop. Lastly, you'll also receive a couple more tangible items in the way of an art book and a duo of "Challenge" coins.

Not looking to terrorize your local airspace? Shave off the $100 premium for the drone and case (not too shabby if the AR.Drone is too expensive for your budget) and you'll be able to grab the Hardened edition packed with everything else. Last, and seemingly least in this case, Activision is putting out a Digital Deluxe for PC users -- similar to the Hardened variant, but with a download code for the aging World at War in place of the physical goodies and PSN / XBL content. Wallet already prepared for the future of secret warfare? You'll find details to place your own pre-order ahead of the November 13th launch at the source links below and trailer courtesy of Joystiq after the break.

UN leader to press Iran on nuclear drive, rights

UN leader Ban Ki-moon will stress to Iranian leaders this week that they must take "urgent" action on the country's nuclear drive and human rights, a UN spokesman said.

The warning was given as Ban headed for Tehran to take part in the Non-Aligned Movement summit starting Wednesday. The United States and Israel said that Ban should not go to Iran.

The UN secretary general will raise the "clear concerns and expectations of the international community on the issues for which cooperation and progress are urgent for both regional stability and the Iranian people," a UN spokesman Farhan Haq told reporters.

"These include Iran's nuclear program, terrorism, human rights and the crisis in Syria," the spokesman added.

Ban expect to meet Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. He arrives in Tehran on Wednesday and leaves again on Friday.

The UN leader has called on Iran, which faces UN sanctions over its nuclear drive, to prove that its research is peaceful. He has also slammed recent remarks by the supreme leader and Ahmadinejad calling Israel a "cancerous tumor."

The United States and European powers say that Iran is seeking to build a nuclear bomb and has sought to increase international pressure. Iran insists it wants nuclear power for peaceful purposes.

Ban has also been urged by human rights groups to take a stand on conditions in the country, which makes extensive use of capital punishment and has also been accused of persecuting political opponents and ethnic minorities.

"It is clear that when he goes there that he will reiterate his concern that the overall human rights situation in Iran remains critical," Haq said.

"And while his program is not yet finalized, he will be directing his message to all segments of Iranian society and the political spectrum.

"Regarding the message on human rights, Iran has an obligation under international law to protect freedom of peaceful assembly, association and expression and allow greater space for media activists, human rights defenders and political activists," the spokesman said.

NASA satellites have been providing valuable data to forecasters at the National Hurricane Center watching the development and progression of powerful Tropical Storm Isaac as it heads for landfall.

The Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) instrument on NASA's Aqua satellite captured this visible image of Tropical Storm Isaac on Aug. 27 at 3:00 p.m. EDT is it was moving northwest through the Gulf of Mexico. Issac's large reach is seen by its eastern cloud cover over the entire state of Florida. At the same time, the Atmospheric Infrared Sounder (AIRS) instrument on Aqua captured infrared data on Isaac's clouds. Cloud top temperatures were colder than ?F (-52C) around the center of circulation and the western quadrant of the storm, and in a large band of thunderstorms east of the center of circulation, over Florida and parts of Cuba. That's where the strongest storms and heaviest rainfall was occurring.

On Aug. 28 at 8:40 a.m. EDT, a visible image of Tropical Storm Isaac taken from NOAA's GOES-13 satellite showed the huge extent of the storm, where the eastern-most clouds lie over the Carolinas and the western-most clouds are brushing east Texas. The image was created by the NASA GOES Project at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Md. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 205 miles (335 km) from the center of circulation, making the storm about 410 miles in diameter.

Warnings and watches in effect on Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2012 are many. A hurricane warning is in effect for east of Morgan City Louisiana to the Alabama-Florida Border, including Metropolitan New Orleans, Lake Pontchartrain, and Lake Maurepas. A hurricane watch is in effect for Intracoastal City to Morgan City, Louisiana. Tropical Storm Warnings are in effect from the Alabama-Florida border to the Aucilla River, and Morgan City to Cameron, Louisiana. A Tropical Storm Watch is in effect from east of High Island, Texas to just west of Cameron, Louisiana.

On Aug. 28 at 8 a.m. EDT, Tropical Storm Issac's maximum sustained winds were just under hurricane force, at 70 mph (110 kmh). The center of Tropical Storm Isaac was located near latitude 27.8 north and longitude 88.2 west, only about 105 miles (170 km) south-southeast of the mouth of the Mississippi River. Isaac is moving northwest at 7 mph (11 kmh) and is expected to continue in that direction for the next day or two, but it's speed is expected to fluctuate. The National Hurricane Center noted that the center of Isaac will be near or over the Louisiana coast tonight, Aug. 28, or early on Aug. 29.

Storm surge is a deadly part of any landfalling tropical cyclone. The National Hurricane Center (NHC) is warning that storm surge will be highest from Isaac from southeastern Louisiana to Mississippi, where surge levels are expected between 6 and 12 feet during times of high tide. Alabama's coast may experience surge between 4 and 8 feet, while south-central Louisiana and the Florida panhandle can expect between 3 and 6 feet. Florida's west coast including Apalachee Bay can expect a storm surge between 1 and 3 feet.

The NHC expects hurricane conditions in the northern Gulf Coast warning area during the afternoon of Aug. 28. As conditions worsen, isolated tornadoes are possible as with any landfalling tropical cyclone.

NASA's Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission (TRMM) satellite has seen large rainfall rates within Tropical Storm Isaac, and those large rainfall rates and slow movement of the storm will lead to high rainfall totals. The National Hurricane Center expects 7 to 14 inches of rain with possible isolated maximum amounts of 20 inches in southeastern Louisiana, southern Mississippi, southern Alabama and the extreme western Florida Panhandle.

[cre blog] NAR says national market is recovering at a slower pace ...

Lawrence Yun

The National Association of Realtors said today that the recovery in the national commercial real estate market is continuing, but at a much slower pace. Positive underlying fundamentals continue to support all of the major commercial real estate sectors, but a slowdown in job creation and ongoing tight loan availability has tempered growth in some areas.

Lawrence Yun, NAR chief economist, said there are mixed results among the commercial sectors. ?Job creation in the second quarter was about half of what we saw in the first quarter, which is moderating demand in the office sector,? he said. ?Industrial and warehouse space is holding on better because imports and exports have advanced. While exports to Europe generally are down, trade has been robust with India, China and other Asian nations, along with Brazil, Mexico and our strongest trading partner ? Canada.?

Although still positive, dampened demand is slightly moderating rent growth with the exception of the multifamily market. ?Sharply higher demand for apartments is causing rents to rise at faster rates,? Yun said. ?A return to normal household formation will mean even lower vacancy rates and higher rents in the future.?

The current commercial real estate cycle has been driven by shifts in demand without an oversupply of new construction. ?The difficulty small businesses have in getting commercial real estate loans for leasing or purchase is keeping a lid on demand,? Yun explained. ?Multifamily is the only commercial sector with a notable growth in new space, with some lending provided through government loans.

With the exception of multifamily, vacancy rates remain above historic averages seen since 1999. Over that timeframe the typical vacancy rate has been 14.4 percent for the office market, 10.1 percent in industrial, 8.1 percent for retail and 5.8 percent in multifamily.

Vacancy rates are marginally declining and rents are modestly rising in all of the sectors, but significant changes in the outlook are unlikely before the end of the year. Many corporate decisions on spending and job hiring are on hold given uncertainty over the upcoming elections, whether Congress will effectively avoid a ?fiscal cliff,? and unsettled issues such as health care and banking/financial regulations.

?Overall companies hold plentiful cash reserves, but they are hesitant to hire without clarity over how these outstanding issues will impact the bottom line,? Yun said.

?Commercial real estate gains could be thwarted if lending from small and community banks dry up from excessive regulatory compliance costs, and if international big-bank capital rules are applied to smaller lending institutions,? Yun added.

NAR?s latest Commercial Real Estate Outlook offers projections for four major commercial sectors and analyzes quarterly data in the office, industrial, retail and multifamily markets. Historic data for metro areas were provided by REIS, Inc.,(2) a source of commercial real estate performance information.

Office Markets

Vacancy rates in the office sector are expected to fall from an estimated 16.1 percent in the third quarter to 15.6 percent in the third quarter of 2013.

The markets with the lowest office vacancy rates presently are Washington, D.C., with a vacancy rate of 9.4 percent; New York City, at 10.0 percent; and New Orleans, 12.8 percent.

Office rent is projected to increase 2.0 percent this year and 2.6 percent in 2013. Net absorption of office space in the U.S., which includes the leasing of new space coming on the market as well as space in existing properties, should be 24.1 million square feet in 2012 and 47.8 million next year.

Industrial Markets

Industrial vacancy rates are forecast to decline from 10.7 percent in the third quarter of this year to 10.5 percent in the third quarter of 2013.

The areas with the lowest industrial vacancy rates currently are Orange County, Calif., with a vacancy rate of 4.6 percent; Los Angeles, 4.8 percent; and Miami at 6.8 percent.

Annual industrial rent is likely to rise 1.7 percent in 2012 and 2.4 percent next year. Net absorption of industrial space nationally is seen at 59.8 million square feet this year and 67.2 million in 2013.

Retail Markets

Retail vacancy rates are projected to decline from 10.9 percent in the third quarter to 10.7 percent in the third quarter of 2013.

Presently, markets with the lowest retail vacancy rates include San Francisco, 3.8 percent; Fairfield County, Conn., 3.9 percent; and Long Island, N.Y., and Orange County, Calif., both at 5.3 percent.

Average retail rent is forecast to rise 0.8 percent this year and 1.3 percent in 2013. Net absorption of retail space should be 10.3 million square feet this year and 20.1 million in 2013.

Multifamily Markets

The apartment rental market ? multifamily housing ? is expected to see vacancy rates drop from 4.3 percent in the third quarter to 4.2 percent in the third quarter of 2013; vacancy rates below 5 percent generally are considered a landlord?s market with demand justifying higher rents.

Areas with the lowest multifamily vacancy rates currently are Portland, Ore., at 2.0 percent; New York City and Minneapolis, both at 2.2 percent; and New Haven, Conn., and San Jose, Calif., both at 2.4 percent.

Average apartment rent is likely to increase 4.1 percent in 2012 and another 4.4 percent next year. Multifamily net absorption should be 219,300 units this year and 236,600 in 2013.

Listen to the first song sent from Mars

The Black Eyed Peas' will.i.am discusses his love of technology, space and the premiere of his new single "Reach for the Stars," which was broadcast from the Mars rover Curiosity.

By Alan Boyle

Hip-hop musician will.i.am's "Reach for the Stars" officially became the first song broadcast from Mars today, thanks to a signal beamed from NASA's Curiosity rover.

"This is the first time that a song's ever come from another planet," Leland Melvin, NASA's associate administrator for education and a former astronaut, told students at an educational event at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, Calif.

On one level, the song's airing at JPL was as much of an audio and photo op as Monday's broadcast of a statement from NASA Administrator Charles Bolden, which represented?"the first human voice broadcast from Mars." But on another level, the blend of space exploration and pop culture fueled the already-high interest in Curiosity's $2.5 billion mission on Mars.

"Mars has always fascinated us, and the things Curiosity tells us about it will help us learn about whether or not life was possible there, and what future human explorers can expect," Bolden said in a NASA statement. "Will.i.am has provided the first song on our playlist of Mars exploration."?

Inspiring the next generation
The event was also aimed at inspiring the next generation of explorers, engineers and scientists: Among the listeners in the JPL audience were students from Boyle Heights ??the L.A. suburb where will.i.am, one of the stars of the Black Eyed Peas, grew up.

"I'm a little nervous, because my mom's in the audience," will.i.am joked. He said he wanted to inspire the kids in his old neighborhood "so that you guys don't ever think about leaving it, but changing it."

Believe it or not, this isn't the first time people tried to have a song broadcast from Mars. The European Space Agency arranged for its Beagle 2 lander to transmit a tune recorded by the British rock group Blur as the first signal confirming that spacecraft's safe landing in 2003. Unfortunately, that lander went out of contact during its descent and was never heard from again.

This time, the experiment worked.

Musician will.i.am tells the story behind "Reach for the Stars," the first song broadcast from another planet.

Well after Curiosity's successful landing on Aug. 5, "Reach for the Stars" was uploaded to the rover's onboard computer and then transmitted back to NASA's Deep Space Network antennas on Earth. Flight director Bobak Ferdowsi, who has achieved Internet fame in his own right as "NASA Mohawk Guy," cued up the four-minute audio clip at the appointed time today. The rover wasn't broadcasting in real time: There's currently a nearly 15-minute communication gap for Curiosity's communications, due to the time it takes radio signals to travel the roughly 166 million miles (267 million kilometers) between Earth and Mars.

How the song got started
Will.i.am said the Mars Curiosity project had its genesis in "i.am.FIRST," an ABC-TV special on robotics and science education that he helped fund for broadcast last year. As a result of the success of that program, Bolden asked will.i.am to become involved in NASA's educational outreach program, and in response, the musician asked whether the space agency had anything special coming up.

"He said, 'We have a rocket going to Mars,'" will.i.am recalled. "So I said, 'Hey, have you ever thought about putting a song on the rocket, so when the rocket lands, the song comes back to Earth?' That's never happened before. So he said, 'Who's gonna do the song?' I said, 'Are you serious? Damn!'"

The musician said he intentionally went with an orchestral sound (with a 40-piece ensemble) instead of the usual hip-hop or dance beat. "I didn't want to do a song that was done on a computer," he said. "I wanted to show human collaboration ... and something that would be timeless, and translated in different cultures."

Will.i.am said the point of the song wasn't just about spaceflight.

"It's a reminder that anything is possible if you discipline yourself, and dedicate yourself and stand for something," he said. "Every single person that's a part of NASA stood for something, and we have this wonderful technology?? the phone you have in your hand, and small computers. If it wasn't for their discipline and their relentless research and efforts, we wouldn't have these small computers. We don't have to just end up in the 'hood. But it's a hard thing. The hardest thing is discipline. Everything else is easy."

During today's event, the musician's i.am angel Foundation and Discovery Education announced a $10 million classroom education initiative focusing on STEAM themes (science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics). NASA said the Discovery Education initiative will incorporate content from the space agency and space exploration themes as part of its curriculum. The initiative will aim to reach 25 million students annually.

Why they say the sky is the limit
When I?ve seen the footprints on the moon
Why do they say the sky is the limit
When I?ve seen the footprints on the moon
And I know the sky might be high
But baby it ain?t really that high
And I know that Mars might be far
But baby it ain?t really that far
Let?s reach for the stars

Reach for the stars
Let?s reach for the stars
Reach for the stars
Let?s reach for the stars
Reach for the stars
Let?s reach for the stars

(Let, let, let, let me see your hands up)
(Let me see your hands up)

Can?t nobody hold us back
They can?t hold us down
They can?t keep us trapped
Tie us to the ground
Told your people that
We don?t mess around
When we turn it up
Please don?t turn us down
We will turn it up
Louder than we were before
Like the lion out the jungle, you can hear us roar
When I lie in here, it?s like a sonic blaster
Flying just like NASA, out of space master

Hands up, reach for the sky
Hands up, get ?em up high
Hands up, if you really feel alive
Live it up, live it up

Why they say the sky is the limit
When I?ve seen the footprints on the moon
Why do they say the sky is the limit
When I?ve seen the footprints on the moon
And I know the sky might be high
But baby it ain?t really that high
And I know that Mars might be far
But baby it ain?t really that far
Let?s reach for the stars

Reach for the stars
Let?s reach for the stars
Reach for the stars
Let?s reach for the stars
Reach for the stars
Let?s reach for the stars

Syrian helicopter downed in Damascus clashes

BEIRUT (AP) ? A Syrian military helicopter caught fire and crashed Monday after it was apparently hit during fighting between government forces and rebels in the capital Damascus, an activist group said.

State-run media confirmed the crash in Damascus but gave no details. A video posted on the Internet showed the chopper engulfed in flames shortly before it hit the ground.

The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, which reported the crash, said there was intense fighting between troops backed by helicopter gunships and rebels in the western Damascus neighborhood of Jobar. State media said the chopper crashed in al-Qaboun district, which is close to Jobar.

With its forces stretched thin by fighting on multiple fronts, President Bashar Assad's regime has been increasingly using air power against the rebels ? both helicopters and warplanes. The army has for more than a month been fighting major battles against rebels in Damascus and its suburbs while engaged in what appears to be a stalemated fight against rebels for control of northern Aleppo, the nation's largest city and commercial capital.

The rebels are not known to have any answer to the regime's warplanes except anti-aircraft guns that they mostly use as an anti-personnel weapon. Last month, rebels claimed to have shot down a Russian-made MiG fighter, but the government blamed the crash on a technical malfunction.

The Syrian conflict began 17 months ago with mostly peaceful protests demanding that Assad step down, but it has since morphed into a civil war. Rights activists say at least 20,000 people have so far been killed.

US officials checking SEAL raid book for secrets

WASHINGTON (AP) ? U.S. officials said Monday that they are reviewing a copy of a soon-to-be-published account of the raid that killed Osama bin Laden, checking for leaks of classified information.

Pentagon spokesman George Little said Defense Department officials "received the manuscript and we are looking at it."

CIA spokesman Preston Golson would only say that "the CIA has a copy of the book."

The book, "No Easy Day," is scheduled for publication on Sept. 11.

The author, a former Navy SEAL who participated in the raid, did not submit the book for pre-publication review that is required by the military secrecy agreements officials say he signed.

Pentagon regulations stipulate that retired personnel, former employees and non-active duty members of the Reserves "shall use the DoD security review process to ensure that information they submit for public release does not compromise national security."

Pentagon officials say that if they determine the manuscript reveals classified information about the raid, the Pentagon would "defer to the Department of Justice."

If there is classified information in the book, the former SEAL could face criminal charges.

The publisher says the author intends to give the "majority" of the proceeds to charity, but the Justice Department could still sue to collect any future book proceeds as well.

A special operations advocacy group, Special Operations-OPSEC, which is criticizing President Barack Obama over alleged leaks and making the raid the national security centerpiece of his re-election campaign, asked the attorney general to block the book's release until the government can make sure it reveals no classified information.

In a letter released to The Associated Press, the group asked the Justice Department "to immediately seek...an injunction in federal court to prevent this book from being published and distributed" until it can be reviewed.

Justice Department spokesman Dean Boyd says the department is reviewing the letter.

Dutton announced the book's pending release last week, saying that "No Easy Day" will "set the record straight" on the bin Laden operation.

After the initial burst of publicity, the book shot up to the top of the Amazon.com chart, reaching No. 1 as of late Friday morning and remaining there Monday, displacing the million-selling erotic trilogy "Fifty Shades of Gray."

French Mamma Blog - Pregnancy & Parenting in France ? How to ...

Something every French mamma needs to know in France is how to serve family lunches. My husband and I returned this week from visiting family in Normandy and had lunch in Caen, le Manche, and Brittany at homes of different family members.

Normally, I would serve the food in the order of appetizer, salad, dinner, and then dessert. I did this one time for while hosting his family and my husband apologized to our guests. In France, you serve the salad after the dinner.

The first thing you will notice is how the table is set. It is typical to see a small plate on top of a larger plate and silverware on either side. In the USA, we place the forks with the prongs facing up, and in France they traditionally put them facing down. My mother-in-law said that it is considered vulgar to have them facing up.

A quick lunch may not have the same meaning for you as it does for your French guests? my husband?s idea of quick lunch is two hours, and mine is thirty minutes. So I gauge my schedule appropriately when he tells me we are going to have a quick lunch at so-and-so?s house. Lunches are generally served in courses, and the conversation never halts. This is a time for laughter and catching up with each other.? The TV is always kept off, except for one time. The Olympics was turned on and the volume was barely recognizable. No one sat and watched it while eating, but gave it the occasional glance between courses.

For large gatherings, we are served an aperitif before our meal is served. This is usually an alcoholic beverage, such as a liqueur, champagne (my personal favorite aperitif), whiskey, martini, alcohol to mix with fruit juice, beer, cider, or kir.? Once were were served some type of white wine with raspberries floating inside ? very pretty and delicious! I received some strange looks when I took a spoon and fished out excess rasberries after I finished my drink, whoops!

A regular meal usually starts off with something simple, called an ?ntree. This time of year we commonly have sliced melon or half an avocado. The ?ntree is typically simple and light. It spurs the appetite and gets your ready for what?s to come. If you are served melon, you need to cut it with a knife and fork. All my life I used my hands, so using utensils doesn?t come automatically. At first I was clumsy and barely got any melon from the skin, but I have the hang of it now. If it?s a formal lunch, the ?ntree gets a little more creative with different flavors and garnishes.

Wine flows as the main course, or plat principal is served. The main course usually includes a meat and an assortment of vegetables. Sometimes the host goes around the table and serves each member, other times serving trays are passed around for everyone to serve themselves. A baguette is usually cut into slices, placed inside a basket, and set in the middle of the table. It is common to rub the bread in the remaining sauce on the plate? my plate is usually sparkling clean when I?m done! Lucky for me, my new family here can really cook.

Just when you are feeling full, the platter of fromage (cheese) gets passed around. This is when I get carried away and eat too much. The key is to take a small nip of each cheese for taste so you don?t get full. I enjoy goat cheese at lunch because it is light and fresh after a large meal. I also don?t always eat cheese with bread, instead, I will eat the cheese plain or with a little confeture (jam).

If it is a typical lunch, then it is normal to have yogurt for dessert. My mother-in-law adds a spoonful of confeture to plain yogurt and I love it. I started doing this at home ? it?s so much more tastey than buying flavored yogurt, plus you can add more or less based on how much sugar you feel like having. It if is a large family lunch then you will most likely be served a g?teau (cake) or tart (pie). Usually there is one dessert for everyone, but once up north we were served two. I had a slice of a blueberry and an apple pie, and it was heavenly?. now it sits not-so-heavenly around my midsection. Oh well, it was worth it.

Depending on the family member, we are served different wines with each course or we have the same wine throughout the meal. While it seems like a lot of alcohol for lunch, no one is ever drunk. After the lunch, some people stay at the table for conversation but most people get up and go outside for a short walk. It?s common for my husband?s family to get up right after eating and do something together. While everyone is getting up, the host is cleaning the table. Another successful family gathering!
