Hurricane Dora gains Cat 2 strength off Mexico (AP)

MIAMI ? Hurricane Dora has grown into a Category 2 storm in the Pacific off the Mexican coast with top sustained winds of 105 miles per hour (165 kph).

The U.S. National Hurricane Center in Miami said Wednesday the hurricane's eye was centered about 215 miles (355 kilometers) south-southwest of Lazaro Cardenas, Mexico, and moving west-northwest at 17 mph (28 kph)

The fourth hurricane of the eastern Pacific season was forecast to move parallel to the shoreline for several days.

Mexican authorities issued a tropical storm watch from Lazaro Cardenas to Cabo Corrientes, meaning tropical storm conditions were possible within 36 hours.
